The Cameron Lake Outdoor Education and Environmental Studies Center is owned by School District 60 and is available for use by all district staff, pupils and public by request. The Center is located in a natural Boreal forest setting on the shore of Cameron Lake, 25km South of Hudson’s Hope on Highway 29.
The Center is used primarily for school use for environmental learning and student recreation. It is available also for public use, suitable for a variety of events, such as private family rentals, weddings, banquets, reunions, organized events, camping and more.
Public users are currently required to privately book the space for use.
Fees
Day use
$10 per day per person.
($100 minimum day.)
Overnight Use
$20 per night per person.
(Minimum $200, 2 or more nights $175 minimum)
25 or more Guests – Contact the Coordinator about discounted rate for Events
Firewood fee is $20 per day.
The use of generated electricity is $10/per if more than an allowed 2 hrs per day that is provided at no cost.
Check-in/out Times
As often one user will arrive the same day another departs, Check-in is at 12 Noon the day of arrival and Check-out is at 11 AM the day of departure. This ensures that the Coordinator has time to prepare the Center for the next group’s arrival. (You may arrange time adjustments ahead of time with the coordinator if needed.) If staying past Check-out time, you will be charged the day use rate.
Additional Fees
Energy
Fees are all-inclusive with the exception of power generation. Use of the on-site generator for more than 2 hours a day will be charged at a rate of $10 per hour.
Firewood
The use of firewood use each day is $20. Please be frugal with the firewood as it is collected by a limited team and takes great effort.
Cleaning
All cleaning is the responsibility of the user groups. Any cleaning tasks left unfinished will result in a cleaning fee being added to the final invoice. Visitors are expected to leave the site, building and other facilities in the same condition (or better) than they are found. Groups will be charged $20 dollars per hour for cleaning if facilities are left in an unsatisfactory condition. This includes the outdoor common areas.
Cancellation
If you must cancel a booking for any reason you must contact the site coordinator immediately. Cancellations made less than 2 weeks before the site visit is scheduled will be charged a $50 cancellation fee.
Please note:
Water is at times not available for potable use. Please plan bring drinking water with you.
Water can freeze up during the winter months.
No water balloons on site please.
There can be absolutely no glass in the outdoor common area.
Please read and agree to the terms of agreement before booking the Center for your event.
*Please note that an available day begins at 12 noon. A previous group may be on site until check-out at 11AM. Please discuss with the coordinator if you require different times.
